Which Book Is Your Baby?

Really, I have to answer that?  First I'd like to thank Wendy for inviting me here today, and then I'd like to slap her *lol* for proposing such a difficult question.  I really had to stop and think because I've written so many stories, and I love each of them for their own uniqueness.

Hard pressed, I finally decided that Sisters in Time is probably one that I consider "my baby."  The idea of a time-travel came to me when I started this story as an historical western romance.  I mainly prefer that era, but characters from other genres kept popping into my head with ideas for their own stories.  I'm a pantser, so that's where my fodder comes from.  I'm lucky because my heroes and heroines show up with a story already named, and usually a cast of characters in tow that I just have to fit into the plot in a way that connects them to my readers.

I must have been feeling a little spiteful the day that modern-day attorney, Taylor, surfaced with demands while I was already busy with something that held my attention.  I think I took an "I'll show you" attitude as I combined her and her husband David with my pioneer couple, Mariah and Frank, in a whirlwind that swept both women away to times, husbands, and challenges far beyond what they ever imagined.

The book was the toughest one to write with four main characters.  In order to keep my couples and names straight, I alternated chapters and it was almost like working on two books.  In reviews, I received praise for keeping the story focused and flowing, so I may have to try something similar again.  My characters had better watch out and make sure they talk to me on a day when I'm not in a "mood."

Thanks again to Wendy for inviting me here and giving me a chance to share one of my favorite books with you.  If if piqued your interest, leave a comment.  I'll be presenting a free copy to one lucky person.  This and all my books are available at Amazon and displayed by publisher on my website.  Oh...and the good news...I'm working on another time-travel inspired by this one...just not as challenging to write.  Please feel free to stop by my blogs, Dishin It Out and Cowboy Kisses.  I love having company.

I'm delighted you are here for the next few days, Ginger. From this post I can well understand why this book is close to your heart. Quite complex and intriguing. I must buy it because my curiosity is aroused by the story and by the method you used to structure it.

Welcome everyone! Who will be the lucky winner of Ginger's intriguing 'Sisters in Time'?

You posted some excerpts on that book right after I first got here, and even back then when I wasn't at all sure who was who around here, I thought it sounded absolutely delightful!

Ginger, I love time travel, as you probably know from my own Mirror, Mirror. This sounds like a really fun read and if I don't win, I'll have to get a copy. I've been fortunate to be your line editor at MuseItUP and I know what a great storyteller you are!

This story line seems to have challenged our great storyteller Ginger. No wonder...4 main characters in different eras? What? Glad you were up to the test. Looking forward to reading the story and how you figured out the telling of it. Best wishes on SIT!

Hello my two very lovely friends. You did put her on the spot Wendy. LOL. She has quite a few books to choose from. Believe it or not, I would have thought First Degree Innocence. It is so emotion-packed and seems to come right from heart. I know she too relied on some of her own experience there as well. Still...Sisters in Time is certainly one I'll need to check into. The history you shared today about it should most definitely give us more insight into the complex and diverse Ginger Simpson. Sometimes humorous, sometimes so sharp with intellect to convey an extremely rational and down- to-earth point, sometimes editor and perfectionist mode but all the time a loving friend. Many riches found in our Ging.

Love you guys!

Hi, Ginger - and hi, Wendy!

I've only read snippets of SISTERS IN TIME, but it's on my TBR list. I really love the premise, simple as it is.

Hi, Ginger. I appreciate the difficulty of writing two pairs of protagonists, plus the added challenge of shifting times. Not for the faint of heart author for sure.
And Wendy, each time I visit your site here, I stand in awe of the amazing mountain scenery. What a lovely place to live!
Cheers,
PD

Wendy, what a lovely picture at the top of your site. So restful, peaceful. Ah, wish I lived there.

Hi Ginger,

I haven't read Sisters in Time yet, but would sure love to. It sounds like a 'different' sort of read and I'm always interested in different. You know me, the genre hopper.

It's on my TBB list for some time now. I'll get it soon, I hope.

Hello Everybody! :) So lovely to have you visit and share in Ginger's revelation.

Rosalie, I agree, Ginger creates wonderful characters and situations.

Michele, Sisters in Time sure sounds like fun. Good Luck for the win.

Gail, it sounds as if this book has been haunting your for years - a must-read. :)

Penny, Sisters in Time will be right up your alley. I have your Mirror, Mirror and loved it, so I'm sure I'll love this one of Ginger's too.

Maggie, characters and authors working their magic together -what a lovely sentiment - has to work well for the reader. Sisters in Time does exactly that, so I can't wait to read it. It's already on my Kindle.

Janet, I agree, 4 characters, 2 time zones, must have been a challenge and a half. I'm wondering if the 2 stories run parallel or cross over. Which ever way Ginger approached this, it will be fascinating.

Karen, now you've made want to read Ginger's First Degree Innocence. It sounds deep and rich.

Margaret, 'Ginger's masterpiece' 'fabulous book'. Very nice compliments. They come better than that :)

Lisabet, from what everyone's been saying we might have to drop the other books we're reading and open this one sooner. :)

Pat, you are right, a huge task by a talented author.

I'm glad you like my heading photo. This is Burglen, central Switzerland, birthplace of Wilhelm Tell.

Lorrie, I took the photo when I visited Burglen, because it is the setting for my novel. I'd love to live there too and I can when I'm inside The Unhewn Stone. :)
I love the premise of Sisters in Time, too, and I'm sure the execution of the story will be quite complex.

Ginger will be back to announce the winner of her book. Good Luck.

I have read Sisters in Time and was and am completely impressed with Ginger's writing and knowledge of human nature. I've read other of Ginger's stories but there is a special place in my heart for Sisters in Time, too. Maybe we all know what it's like to be thrown by everything, including the time in which you live!

Heather, It sounds like Sisters in Time is a deep and meaningful book.
